Environmental Protection

About Us

In recent decades, environmental protection has taken on ever greater importance. For this reason, we at Phoenix Compounding Technology GmbH (PCT) have made it our task to make a contribution to protecting mankind and nature when creating our formulas. Phoenix Compounding Technology GmbH has been certified in accordance with the environmental standard ISO 14001 since 2010 as well.

Most PCT compounds feature a cross-linking system that does not lead to the generation of carcinogenic N-nitrosamines. These compounds are marked in our catalogue as "nitrosamine non-toxic". In isolated cases, however, doing without nitrosamine formers altogether can be quite problematic, so the complete range has not yet been converted. We recommend that "nitrosamine non-toxic" compound grades primarily be used.

The PCT compounds are free of CFCs as well as cadmium, mercury, chrome (VI), polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE), pentabrominated diphenyl ether and octabrominated diphenyl ether, which are not permitted by the directives 2000/53/EC (EU end-of-life vehicles directive), 2002/95/EC and 2003/11/EC. The ban on lead compounds has also been nearly entirely implemented in our rubber compounds. Only very few compounds in our product range still contain lead due to the necessity to provide compounds for original replacement parts.

The company fulfils the new legislative requirements regarding chemicals (REACH). All raw materials used are registered in accordance with the applicable dates or are intended for registration. Substances of very high concern or potential substances of high concern pursuant to article 57 of the REACH regulation are not included in compounds.

The use of aromatic plasticizing oils with higher polycyclical aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) content is being reduced constantly. PAH is considered to be carcinogenic. DAE oils (distillated aromatic extract), which contain PAH, can be replaced with TDAE (treated distillated aromatic extract), MES (mildly extracted softener) und RAE (residual aromatic extract) oils.

PCT is constantly entering data about compound content materials into the automotive industry's International Material Data System (IMDS). Current IMDS material data sheets can be found as "PHX compound number" under the term "Trade name".
